To build practice excellence, teachers work towards implementing the AlGhad Teacher Standards under the main domains of professional practice.
In the classroom, AlGhad teachers place emphasis on hard work and effort as critical to success, and encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes.
The AlGhad Leadership Team creates processes to regularly review and renew shared goals for the school and departments that articulate high expectations for all students. AlGhad Leaders maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and hold high expectations of themselves and their teachers to ensure educational professionalism and lifelong learning. In addition, they strive to create a school culture in which all staff make themselves accessible and approachable to families, students, and community members through welcoming behaviours.
To empower students and build school pride, there are Student Councils from Senior Elementary upwards in which students learn those skills important to being well-rounded school leaders. Each Student Council is made up of six Officers, and a Student Representative from each class from Grades 4 to 12. Student Council Officers work together with classroom representatives, and staff advisors, to learn leadership, responsible decision-making, and the importance of effective communication.
AlGhad School strives to foster a community that welcomes families as partners in their child’s education. Parents are invited to talk to their child’s teacher, Head of Department and Vice Principal / Principal, as well as visit their child’s class. Regular communication on school developments and achievements will be provided to parents, and parents are encouraged to give input and feedback and in so doing become involved in the decision-making processes of the school.
